Welcome to Lotusdrops Art Workshop.
Hi! My name is Ma Yee Nam Isabella, a female Chinese artist in Hong Kong. My family name is actually ‘Ma’as Chinese puts their surname in the front traditionally. The meaning of ‘Ma’ is horse which may sound surprisingly weird to many of you. It is believed that people who carry the surname of ‘Ma’ were either horse owners or horse trainers in the past. “Yee Nam” is my first name. The meaning of “Yee” is ripple and “Nam” is a kind of tree grown in the southern part of China. My parents gave me this name because they believed in the 5 elements in Life: Metal, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth, symbolizing that I will grow up healthily as ‘the ripples which represent water will help the tree (you) grow’.
In the southern part of China, a province called Chiu Chow, is peacefully located by the sea. It is where my parents came from. My parents’re both refugees escaping from their hometown sailing on a boat to Hong Kong. Although they settled in Hong Kong finally, many of their likes and dislikes are still very much rooted in Chiu Chow, China. I was brought up in a family like this while growing up listening to Britpop music and rock n roll. This background triggers off my search on self identity and cultural identity in this post-colonial hectic city.
My artistic instinct is perhaps inherited by my grandpa whom I have never seen in real life. He was a farmer back then but would perform in Chinese Opera for the locals and draw pictures when he was off the plant field.
I love exploring the possibilities of different art media and experimenting various forms of art. Art is my passion; art is my life. It is through art, I find the meaning of life and why I am living. Many of my friends and art critics said in each piece of my artwork, they can see a lot of emotion in it. I said each piece of my artwork means differently to different people.
My paintings have been exhibited in art centre and shopping mall & my illustrations have been published in Hong Kong newspapers and magazines.

Hallo! Mein Name ist Ma Yee Nam Isabella, ein weiblicher chinesischer Künstler in Hong Kong. Mein Familienname ist wirklich 'Ma'as Chinese stellt ihren Nachnamen in der Vorderseite traditionell. Die Bedeutung von 'Ma' ist Pferd, das überraschend unheimlich zu vielen von Ihnen klingen kann. Davon wird geglaubt, dass Leute, die den Nachnamen von 'Ma' tragen, entweder Pferd-Eigentümer oder Pferd-Trainer in der Vergangenheit waren. "Yee Nam" ist mein Vorname. Die Bedeutung von "Yee" ist Kräuselung, und "Nam" ist eine Art im südlichen Teil Chinas angebauter Baum. Meine Eltern gaben mir diesen Namen, weil sie an die 5 Elemente im Leben glaubten: Metall, Holz, Wasser, Feuer und Erde, das symbolisierend, ich werde gesund als 'die Kräuselungen aufwachsen, die Wasser vertreten, werden dem Baum helfen (den Sie) anbauen'.
Im südlichen Teil Chinas, eine Provinz genannt der Chiu-Chow-Chow, wird durch das Meer friedlich gelegt. Es ist, wo meine Eltern herkamen. Mein parents're beide Flüchtlinge, die die ihrer Heimatstadt entweichen auf einem Boot nach Hong Kong segelt. Obwohl sie sich in Hong Kong schließlich einrichteten, viele von ihrem mag, und Abneigungen werden noch im Chiu-Chow-Chow, China sehr eingewurzelt. Ich wurde in einer Familie wie das heraufgebracht, indem ich aufwuchs, Britpop Musik und Felsen n Rolle zuhörend. Dieser Hintergrund löst von meiner Suche auf selbst Identität aus und kulturelle Identität in dieser hektischen Postkolonialstadt.

Salut! Mon nom est la Maman Yee Nam Isabella, un artiste chinois femelle à Hong-Kong. Mon nom de famille est vraiment 'le chinois de Ma'as met leur nom de famille dans le front traditionnellement. Le sens de 'maman' est le cheval qui peut sembler étonnamment surnaturel à beaucoup d'entre vous. On y croit que les gens qui portent le nom de famille de 'maman' étaient propriétaires de cheval ou entraîneurs de cheval dans le passé. "Yee Nam" est mon prénom.Le sens de "Yee" est l'ondulation et “Nam” est une sorte d'arbre cultivé dans la partie du sud de Chine. Mes parents m'ont donné ce nom parce qu'ils ont cru dans les 5 éléments dans la Vie : le Métal, le Bois, l'Eau, le Feu et la Terre, en le symbolisant je grandirai sainement comme ‘les ondulations qui représentent de l'eau aideront l'arbre (que vous) cultivez’.
Dans la partie du sud de Chine, une province appelée la Boustifaille de Chiu, est paisiblement trouvé par la mer. Il est d'où mes parents sont venus.Mon parents’re les deux réfugiés s'échappant de leur ville natale naviguant sur un bateau à Hong-Kong. Bien qu'ils se soient installés à Hong-Kong finalement, beaucoup de leur aime et les aversions sont toujours très inculquées dans la Boustifaille Chiu, la Chine. J'ai été élevé dans une famille comme cela en croissance l'écoutant de la musique de Britpop et de la roche n le rouleau. Ce fond déclenche ma recherche sur moi l'identité et l'identité culturelle dans cette ville agitée post-coloniale.
