While sitting in my room one day, depressed at the idea that I could buy a very nice house for the cost of vet school, I started brainstorming ideas that would help defray my expenses. Obviously a “real” job wasn’t going to work out with my full-time student schedule (good excuse right?), so I kept thinking. I’ve always loved to sew, and since I have animals on the brain right now, my mind finally kicked into gear and made the not-so-difficult connection… Make pet products!

I hope to continue to add new products, like my Funky Dog Shampoo and salmon treats, as I learn more about the nutritional and other needs of companion animals. So far I’ve been having tons of fun, and even if this does not turn into the pet empire that sometimes sneaks into my dreams, it’s been a great experience.

This month I donated 24 cat collars to Marin Wildcare. They are going to sell them in their gift shop to help support the wildlife rehabilitation clinic and as part of an effort to encourage people to put bells on cats to protect wildlife.

Each collar and leash is multiply reinforced (at least triple stitched) at all the stress points, and has heavy duty nickel hardware and comfort curved high impact acetal buckles. The hemp collars are made of hand dyed organic hemp with nickel hardware.
