Feedback > Got a new camera and backgr...

I got a new camera and it doesn't seem to like white backgrounds a whole lot, so I changed it for a lightpink one. I don't think it's too distracting, it's still plain, but I'm wondering what you guys think.

Feedback is very much appreciated

Hello,

if you want a real white background you need :

1- made a white balance with your camera on the background. (try to have a good light too, per exemple the light of the sun (not directly) or 2 normal lights)
2- open the pictures on photoshop or gimp
3- trying to add more lighting +10% or 20% and a bit add of contrast +5% or +10%

i hope you understand me (i'm just french ;-))

It makes perfect sense, don't worry :) I already know about those 3 steps, the problem is that you need to take the pictures with a white (or whitish) background to get that to work, and my camera pretty much shuts down after a couple of close-ups on white backgrounds. There's too much light that reflects from the background to the camera and I can't get it fixed.

But to get back at my question: do you think the pink distracts too much?

hi,
to be honest - pink background doesn't go well with your jewelry.
I'd rather choose sth low-key. If you can't use white - maybe some light shade of gray ?

greetings
i.

hi,

to make good pictures, it's a job !!
but you can always try with small light in your house, or near a window.
for my pictures, i take a white paper, in front of my window with sun (but not directly on glass) i shoot my items.

Try this ...

I love Ston's comment! Im just french! haha we understand you very well.

I do what Ston says, by the window, or outside with sun but not direct light or the lense against the light. I use gimp (which is free) to crop and maybe retouch a bit.

Good luck!

Ston, thanks for the tip, I'm going to try the window idea.

This is also where I take my picts, next to a window. I have experimented and selected a time frame where the sun is on the right spot, not direct, and shoot my photos there and then. You can try shooting your pictures in a light beige background, as mentioned before, I don't think pink is complimenting your jewellery.

Thanks for the help everyone :)

I've discovered that my camera has a certain function for 'light backgrounds' and it seems to help, I am able to take pictures on a white background now :)
