Feedback > Why does nothing sell from ...
Wendren 25.06.2008 21:09I have had many sales from other marketplaces but only one through Dawanda. Why do you think this is? Does anybody have any suggestions for me that could possibly make my products more appealing to a EU market?
CyesaAberte 26.06.2008 10:19I guess the market is really slow right now .... everyone is not selling their stuffs .... so we have to wait for our time to come :D
elizabeth 26.06.2008 12:50hi Wendren, did you see there was a good response to your post about your "win a bag" competition, I hope that helped to direct some traffic your way!
***making sure you use the correct URL is also very important!!!! it should be http://en.dawanda.com/SHOP/thewren
Have you tried contacting relevant bloggers who feature indie artists and designers? There are so many out there, Indiequarter.com and Cuteable.com are examples of blogs which invite sellers to contact them about their work. This could be a help for you!
AspenSpa 26.06.2008 12:57It took me a while to sell my first item here on DaWanda. This market does have buyers--I definitely sell more on other markets, though.
One thing that I do is list my items in French and German. I don't translate them, but do put the description (english) under the French and German listings. I put tags in that language. Many Europeans speak some or excellent english, so I work off that. I've sold to people in those countries here on DaWanda, so I think it helps.
Good luck!
Florcita 27.06.2008 07:32For some reason it has been slow for everyone. we have juggled a couple of hypothesis: such as the season (summer people are outside more, less e-shopping), vacations...people just arent home. no relevant "dates" you know like father's day, initiation of school days...dunno stuff like that.
People do spend money in EU...LOL that is obvious.I think the most relevant of reasons is that Dawanda is relatively new, and the crows have still to find us.
Esthertie 27.06.2008 07:48Florcita, i think that's true. Dawanda needs more adverticement, i never heard about Dawanda before it was coincidence i saw the site.
I also think the people don't buy that much because the daily products in the market are expensive and they don't got so much money left. Maybe because of the faith in the financial position of the country (in NL).
Florcita 27.06.2008 16:02Hey Esthertie! Well, i just read on the paper yesterday that here, in NL, milk and cheese have gotten 20% more expensive since april!! that's a lot for 2 months. Maybe people are apprehensive, I don't. know.
milomade 27.06.2008 18:22I've not sold anything on DaWanda and I don't understand why? I've not got a blog and so don't advertise in that way, but I do have a website for milomade, it's just that I've done nothing to advertise that either...
If you're good at blogging and networking online with links here and there you generate more traffic and therefore hopefully sales. I'm new to online selling and also to blogging [trying to set one up at the moment], but hopefully once that's up I'll get more of a presence online and maybe make some sales.
Florcita 28.06.2008 09:31Well, good luck there milomade. Post your links when you are ready.
Mantuesday 28.06.2008 09:56morning folks,
Our time will come, all we need is to keep our products current and not lose faith. Amen to that.
glamasaurus 29.06.2008 11:37If you really want sales you need to promote yourselfs. Join relavent forums. Get a blog and write about your latest creations. Participate in social networking sites. These are all free ways you can promote yourself.
OnaWhimsey 30.06.2008 14:51Some excellent advice there! It is tough out there at the moment but if we just keep at it, one day!!!
rori 30.06.2008 16:25life is so expensive nowadays, let's hope it will be better soon!!
LaSrtaPil 01.07.2008 15:45so...Mantuesday Amen too!, someone could tell when the initiation of school days? or you say Florcita relevants dates?
that will be good for every body.
Florcita 02.07.2008 07:31Well, I was thinking that maybe we should make a calendar, so we are all aware of relevant dates. I mean, school just finished here now (Netherlands). so now kids and families are on vacations until mid-august. i dont know about the rest of the countries in Europe.
but for instance... I dont think there is anything too relevant afterwards until SinterKlaas at the beginning of December... but in NL there is Sinterklaas AND Santa Claus... two different dates (5th and 25th of december). And for both days presents are bought!!! So then, we should be aware, just an example!
Im sure other countries might have other dates before december, but maybe if we organize some kind of calendar, we can all be prepared...
SarasTextureCrafts 02.07.2008 09:09Florcita is right... the holidays will slow things down now, but to be honest this year has been generally bad on all forums. Do look at http://dawandashopdirectory.blogspot.com/ there are lots of links to other community groups for networking and resources too... hopefully the extra promotion will help.
SarasTextureCrafts 02.07.2008 09:10Oh the calender idea... I'd be happy to post the resulting diary on http://dawandashopdirectory.blogspot.com/ to everyone to see... as an extra to your postings here.
Just contact me.
