This is a reversible pendant made from the paper of Chinese red envelope. I sandwiched it between 2 clear glass and soldered the frame with lead-free solder. Photo shows the 2 different patterns of ONE pendant.
These envelopes are from my collection. Most are designed, printed and distributed in Singapore. Some are at least 8 years old.
*Chinese red envelopes (Hong Bao) are often decorated with auspicious symbols. The Chinese use them to hold monetary gifts and other small items gifts. Traditionally, red envelopes are handed out to younger generation by their parents, relatives and friends during Chinese Lunar New Year. They are also given to the bride and groom during their wedding. It is believed to bring good luck, prosperity and happiness to both the recipient and giver.
*Note
For the benefit of those with sensitive skin, lead-free solder contains Tin, Copper and Silver.
